DHS Sec. Mayorkas Touts New ‘Misinformation and Disinformation Governance Board’

When police, law makers, judges, government departments break and ignore the law they have sworn to uphold, then there isn't any law - just a fight for survival.

These days so many governments around the planet seem to be having a lot of trouble following their own rules, and seem to believe in selective enforcement, this section is here to try to help people find ways (preferably non-violent ways) to survive the tyranny.

DHS Sec. Mayorkas Touts New ‘Misinformation and Disinformation Governance Board’
By Craig Bannister | April 27, 2022

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has created a new entity to police “misinformation” and “disinformation,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told the House Appropriations DHS Subcommittee on Wednesday.

Sec. Mayorkas made the revelation while outlining DHS efforts to ensure election security and thwart Russian efforts to meddle in U.S. elections, particularly by feeding false information to American minorities.

When Rep. James Langevin (D-RI) asked how DHS plans to shore up election security and fend off Russian cyber-interference, Mayorkas said that a new “miss-and-disinformation governance board” has already been created. The new board is now advising and providing resources to the nation’s secretaries of state, Mayorkas explained:

“We have just established a miss-and-disinformation governance board in the Department of Homeland Security to more effectively combat this threat, not only to election security, but to our homeland security.

“We are disseminating information to the secretaries of state. We are counseling them and providing resources to ensure better physical security. We are addressing all aspects of election security given, of course, the midterm elections that are upon us, and the fundamental integrity of our democratic processes that is at stake.”

At another point in the hearing, Sec. Mayorkas said the “misinformation-disinformation governance board” will also be used to protect minorities from being misled by foreign countries attempting to disrupt U.S. elections:

"Our Undersecretary for Policy, Rob Silvers, is co-chair with our Principal Deputy General Counsel Jennifer Gaskell, in leading a just-recently constituted misinformation-disinformation governance board. So we're bringing — the goal is to bring the resources of the department together to address this threat."
