Anyone know what rak’ah is?
I have been unable to find a good answer.
What is rak’ah ?
Re: What is rak’ah ?
I am not sure if I am totally correct on this
but as I understand it rak'ah is one unit of prayer
of the multiple prayer units within of the multiple Islamic daily prayers.
As some others have stated everything in Islam is dictated on how and when you are to do literally everything.
Including what position one is to be in while preforming the various parts of the various daily prayers.
see

for more information.
The basic required prayers
(each unit of prayer is called a rak`ah)
Salat al-Fajr (Dawn prayer), which consist of two units
Salat al-Zuhr (Midday prayer) consisting of four unit
Salat al-`Asr (Afternoon prayer) consisting of four units
Salat al-Maghrib (Dusk prayer) which consist of three units
Salat al-`Isha (Night prayer) consisting of four units.
