What is fard 'ayn?

Terms and word definitions as they relate to Islam.

What is fard 'ayn?

Fard 'ayn is an individual obligation. But unlike fard kafaayah the obligation is not dropped even if someone else does the task. Not performing a fard 'ayn obligation makes the person guilty of an unforgivable(?) sin.
