What are mukoos ?

Terms and word definitions as they relate to Islam.

What are mukoos ?



Mukoos are sales taxes, levies, etc.

Mukoos are haraam in Islam and are considered dhulm (oppression) and is a major sin. (if charged to a Muslim).

However taxes, levies and the like charged by Muslims to non-muslims are not considered haraam.
