what is Eemaan?

Terms and word definitions as they relate to Islam.

what is Eemaan?

Eemaan is a difficult term to give a simple concise definition as it refers to a way of life regarding islamic faith not just a description of one aspect or area of faith.

This is an overly simplistic definition but one that i think covers most of the "bases":

Eemaan refers to the believe (of the teachings of Islam) in the heart, testifies to that believe with their words AND implements this conviction of faith and testimony by their physical actions.

some groups say eemaan is simply faith, but according to traditional teachings it is not eemaan if one has faith but does not speak or implement that faith. All three areas are to be considered when discussing the state or value of a muslim's eemaan.
