kalima or shahada

Islamic declaration of belief, the formal content of which is the kalima: "There is no God but God, and Mohammad is the messenger of God."

The kalima serves as a kind of minimal creed for Muslims and is one of the five pillars of Islam (din).

The Arabic form is "La ila ha illa Allah, Mohammad rasul Allah."
