what are qiraats?

Terms and word definitions as they relate to Islam.
[initially the terms are being brought over from our old board

what are qiraats?

I have found two very different meanings for Qiraats

Qiraats - different modes of recitation.

another usage indicates that Qiraats reference how allah measures ones good works or their reward in heaven. Apparently only allah knows what the value of a qiraat is.


If anyone has any more information? Please post it.
